It was SRO at 1871 when New Leaders Chicago presented a "Broke" book forum. Authors Hilary Denk, Amara Enyia, Jonathan Peck, Dick Simpson and Tom Tresser brought the civic knowledge and passion. CivicLab and NLC Chicago will be cooking up more civic events in the near future! What a great organization and what a great meeting on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Reilly School! The United Neighbors of the 35th Ward meeting was kicked off by co-founder Joyce Brody and Alderman Carlos Rosa gave us a generous introduction. Tom Tresser gave an overview of the book project and Amara Enyia explained why a public bank for Chicago is such a great idea. The meeting was held at the Reilly School and Principal Ken Fitzner welcomed people to the school. He stayed for our presentation. This is what he said:
We gave eight members of the Chicago City Council's Progressive Caucus copies of "Chicago Is Not Broke" at a budget town meeting at Malcolm X College on November 3, 2016.
